Who is
The Rachet Hipster?
Hey Boo! I’m Donna!
A New York City based Botanical Curator and photographer with big ideas. Obsessed with: plants, astrology, travel, laughing loudly and making an impact.
It took a pandemic, losing contracts in my photography business due to shut downs for me to finally step into my purpose.
You see, I’ve always had a green thumb, so when I had to pivot do to circumstances outside of my control, I merged my gifts of photography, story telling, humor and of course botanical knowledge to bring what you see here. Thus,
The Rachet Hipster was born.
I am a plant mama to over 80 houseplants in New York City. I’ve curated them over the last several years. My purpose is to guide you through your journey of empowered plant parenthood.
I’ve always taken care of a few plants in my apartment in New York City. However, In 2015 I started collecting houseplants in a mad fury. It was a way to cope with world events that were out of my control. There is something about getting your fingers in dirt and really feeling the earth in your hands that keeps you grounded. Watching plants grow, develop and sometimes pass on was constant comfort in a time of chaos.
I’m passionate about what I do. The reason why is I’ve found in my life that plants are a way to heal and bring beauty into your personal life and home. I want to help you feel confident in your botanical journey.
“Thanks to Donna for making me love indoor plants. I’m working on my plants, like I’m working on myself. Leaves may fall but they’ll grow back as long as they are loved and cared for.”
